Abstract
The present study was conducted in Assiut University Hospital aiming to determine nursing communication patterns, developing tools to improve it, and implement and evaluate these tools.
The programme was developed on the assumption that the improvement of staff nurses knowledge and practice will accordingly be positively reflected on nurses efficiency and level of both recording and quality of care.
The study was conducted in one general medical unit and one general surgical unit for the exploratory study and for the training programme. One medical and one surgical units were selected.
The tools were used to collect the data were:
A structed interviewing from specially designed and validated to assess nurses opinion regarding pattern of communication between nurse - nurse, physician-nurse-, nurse- and patients, and interdepartmental communication as well as availabity of nursing forms.
2- A concurrent adudit technique was used for reviewing nursing record.
