Abstract The present study was carried out to investigate the possible effect of whole body exposure to electromagnetic field (EMF) of mobile phones on some hepatic, hemostatic and metabolic parameters in rats. The study was performed on 111 albino rats, of both sexes, which were divided into 2 main groups: (I) Group I: 4 weeks exposure group. Rats in this group were exposed to electromagnetic field (EMF) emitted from cellular phones for 4 weeks, for 3 different durations/day, namely: - Group I1: Rats in this group were exposed to EMF for one hour/day for 4 weeks (n=15). - Group I2: Rats in this group were exposed to EMF for two hours/day for 4 weeks (n=14). - Group I3: Rats in this group were exposed to EMF for three hours/day for 4 weeks (n=14). In addition, there was a Control group (group Ic), in which rats were kept away from any source of EMF until sacrificed (n=13). (II) Group II: 8 weeks exposure group. Rats in this group were exposed to cellular phone-emitted electromagnetic field (EMF) for 8 weeks, for 3 different durations/day, namely: - Group II1: Rats in this group were exposed to the EMF for one hour/day for 8 weeks (n=14). - Group II2: Rats in this group were exposed to EMF for two hours/day for8 weeks (n=14). - Group II3: Rats in this group were exposed to EMF for three hours/day for 8 weeks (n=14). |
