Abstract
In the present study the ability of some fungal species, which are mainly soil inhabitants to decompose chitin and produce chitinase enzyme was studied in submerged cultures using chitin as a source of carbon or nitrogen or both. Studies using these fungal species were extended to evaluate their mycolytic activity against a fungal soil pathogen>
