Abstract

Previous experiments have demonstrated that a number of different cells, can secrete a potent liypotensive agent- endotheliumderived relaxing factor, which has recently been identified as nitric oxide (NO). it is a messenger molecule iniidved in diverse cellular processes as neurotrans~nission, immunoregulation, and vascular homeostasis. The short- life period of NO in vivo impedes its quantitation directly, however, the determination of nitrite and nitrate ions as the end product of NO oxidation has proven more practical approach. The previously reported method for determination of NO by Diazotization procedure according to Guevara, I. (1998), depend on redoction of nitrate to nitrite using nitrate reductase from Aspergillus species in the presence of NADPH followed by adding Griess reagent and spectrophotometric assay.
