Abstract The present work aims to investigate the performance of an electrochemical batch agitated vessel in removal of Cr+6 and Pb +2 separately from synthetic wastewater by Electrocoagulation. The batch agitated vessel consist of 45° pitched four multi layer vanes made of Aluminum mesh screen as anode and a circular horizontal solid Aluminum disc cathode The performance of present agitated vessel has been-investigated in relation to the following parameters: Effect of electrolysis time. Effect of different current densities (C.D). Effect of different NaCl concentrations. Effect of different initial concentration of Cr+6 &Pb +2ions. Effect of (pH). Effect of speed of rotation. Effect of distance between the two electrodes. The study revealed the following results; 1. As the C.D increases the % removal increases for the two metal ions. The effect ofNaCl concentration has two opposing effects on EC of the two metal ions the optimum NaCl concentration was 4g/l for the metal ions. As the initial concentration of metal ion increases % removal decreases. The pH of the metal ion solutions is the optimum value and no need for pH adjustment. |
