Abstract

In this study examine bee venom as therapeutic agent in laboratory animals to
determine therapeutic dose and also study safety and efficacy of this therapeutic dose by
collecting serum and blood samples from the injected rabbits to evaluate hematological,
biochemical, and immunological changes in the blood and serum. The effect on clinical
and pathological picture of the injected rabbits was also determined. Also bee venom was
studied in CCl4 induced hepatitis in rats to approve possibility to use it as therapy for
chronic liver diseases.
Injection of animal venom (bee venom) for treatment of deleterious effects in horses
immunized for preparation of cobra antivenom in both newly immunized horses and
previously immunized horses for 5 years. Serum and blood samples were collected from
the two groups of horses to evaluate hematological, biochemical, and immunological
changes in the blood and serum. The effect on clinical and POSt mortum picture of the
horses were also determined.
We noticed that there were some improvement in hematological, biochemical and
immunological parameters in horses treated with bee venom. According to these results
precise consideration should be undertaken while preparation of the antivenin by
application of bee venom treatment schedule for up to 4 months to avoid the deleterious
effects on the cobra-immunized horses for long period.
