Abstract

The present study aimed to give an idea about the epidemiology of Cr.
oJormans and number of other yeasts to find a correlation between the environment
IIId the clinical cases to follow the ideal and correct hygienic measures for the protection
’Om different diseases transmited to man, animals and birds, where the environment has
major role for that.
For that purpose, samples were collected from diseased and apparently healthy
imals and birds as well as soil samples from different environmental sources. The
,Iycological examinations of (2493) samples of vaginal swabs, faecal samples, nasal
Il’abs , milk samples, bird DROPpings and soil samples from different environmental.
urces yielded (1228) positive samples for different yeast strains in a percentage of
:19.2%). Positive samples for yeasts were obtained in a highest percentage from bird
oppings (65.7%), followed by nasal swabs (64%), then milk samples (53.4%), vaginal
,vabs (51.8%), faecal samples (44.9%) and finally, the lowest percentage was obtained
m soil samples taken from different environmental sources (19.9%).
It is evident that, out of the total samples examined in the present study, Candida
cies were obtained in a highest percentage of (23.2%), followed by C. albicans
4.4%), then R.rubra (5.9%), G.candidum (5;2%), Cr. neoformans (2%) and finally,
cutaneum (0.5%).
