Abstract The present study was aimed to identifying some of the parasites prevailing in animals and poultry farms and evaluating the effect of physical factors and the use of chemical agents in their control through the following: 1. Determination of the prevalence rate of different parasites infesting cattle and buffaloes, fecal and floor samples from 8 dairy and 2 beef farms located in Giza, Alexandria and Ismailia were collected and examined from June 2005 till June 2006. 2. Detection of different parasites infesting poultry, litter samples either wood shavings or wheat bran straws were collected and screened for presence of different parasites especially Eimeria. 3. Determination of the effect of physical factors included temperature, pH, and moisture content on the development and survival of different parasites (Fasciola gigantica eggs & miracidium, Trichostrongyle eggs & larvae as well as Eimeria tenella oocysts). 4. Determination of the effect of some disinfectants on the development and survival of the same parasitic stages__in the environment and their suitability for practical application.it is recommended that adoption of good hygienic measures, hygienic removal of manure, strategic dosing against different parasites, and breakdown of life cycle and eradication of infective stages by using suitable disinfectants are of great importance for control of such parasitic infestation. |
