Abstract

The present work was carried out to prepare vaccine contains new adjuvant characterized by its long lasting effect and high immunogenicity. For this we prepared three types of inactivated FMD virus vaccines, the first contained Montanide 206, the second contained peanut oil and compared with the third which contains Al(OH)3 gel as adjuvant (commercially used). The three vaccines tested for safety, sterility and potency in Guinea pigs. We prepared four groups of sheep (each of 5 sheep) proved to be free from antibodies against FMD virus. Each type of vaccine inoculated in group of sheep and the 4th group leaved as control. Then the antibodies in each of sheep were measured for 8 months using serum neutralization test and ELISA. The results gave the priority to the vaccine containing Montaniode 206 as adjuvant that gave high and long lasting effect after making challenge test, the results supports using inactivated FMD vaccine containing Montanide 206 as adjuvant.
