Abstract

Hyperimmune sera was prepared against the most predominant C.perfringens isolates from diseased and apparently healthy ostriches to be used for diagnosis and typing of C.perfringens by serum neutralization test in swiss mice.It was detected that C.perfringens plays an important role in inducing diarrhea and subsequent death in ostriches .Polymerase chain reaction(PCR)test was used for rapid diagnosis and typing of C.perfringens. A trail for preparing a vaccine from non-toxigenic stains of C.perfringens was made after phylogenic and genetic analysis of these strains using RT-PCR. Because of the difference in gene sequence of non-toxigenic strains comparing with published strains ,they failed to induce protection.
