Abstract

A total of 1800 one-day old Cob chicks were used to mvcsugaic the effects of oxytetracycline, yeast probiotic or bacterial probiotic on
the duodenal and caecal lactobacillus micro llora, I’ll and broilers
performance.
l’he chicks were assigned randomly into SIX groups with 300
chicks per treatment. The chicks were reared III an open house under
natural conditions with wood shaving litter and each group was kept
separately using wooden chick garlics. Each group was supplied with
plastic feeders and water troughs, water supplied ad libitum and Iced
was formulated to meet the nutrient requirements of the broilers
during the starter (0-21 day) and grower (22 - 42 day) period.
The six groups were: group (I) control group administrated
basal Iced mash, groups(2) given basal feed containing
oxytetracycline (500 gm/ton ration), group(3) given basal ICed
containing yeast probiotic (2 kg/ton ration), group (4) given basal feed
containing bacterial probiotic (500 gm/ton ration), group (5) given
basal feed containing oxytetracycline (500 gill/ton ration) then yeast
prohiotic (2 kg/ton ration) in a weekly alternative method and group
(6) given basal feed containing oxytetracycline (500 gin/ton ration)
then bacterial probiotic (500 gut/ton ration) ill a weekly alternative
method.
The chicks 111 all groups were weighed at the beginning of the
experiment then weekly, also feed consumption, body weight, body
weight gain, feed COilversion ratio and feed efficiency were calculated
weekly for each group.
