The reaction of 2-imino-4-thiazolidinone 1 or its 5-arylidene derivative 2 with malononitrile gave 5-amino-7-imino-3-oxo-dihydrothiazolo(3.2-a)pyrimidine 3 as well as 5-amino-2-arylidene-7-imino-3-oxothiazolo(3.2-a)pyrimidine derivatives 5a.c.respectively.
