Abstract

Haemolytic disease of the newborn is adisease
which ste.rts in utero and causes jaundice and enlar-
gement of the liver and spleen of the foe’tu.s,the sever-
ity of the disease ranges from mild to· form with
mental retardation brain damage, kernicterus or still
birth (Potter, 1964).
ABo hemolytic disease of the newborn caused by
materno-fetal incompatabili ty constitutes about two
thirds of cases of HDNB but is also usually milder
Md consequently more difficult to diagnose although,
(ABo incompate,bili ty occurs in about 15% - 20% of pre-
gnancies, HDNB occurs in only 20% of babies atrisk
(Anderson et-al., 1963).
Tetanus toxoid vaccine increase the ABo, incompa-
tabili ty haemolytio diseases in newlyborn when given to
pregnant mother (Oski et al., 1982 , Gupte & Bhatia,1980).
This work comprise 348 cases devided into two groups.
The first group: 198 vaccinated pregnant mothers in
the childbearing period and their newly born infants they
vaccinated by adsorbed type of tet~B_’ toqla during pre-
gnancy.
