THE STUDY PROBLEM : the study problem was stated in the following main question : What are the educational contents of al Ragheb Al Asfahany’s writings? It was divided in to the following five sub-questions What are the societal contexts that contributed in the formation of Al- Ragheb Al- Asfahany’s thought What are the intellectual contexts of Al- ragheb Al- Asfahany? What are the philosophical bases of Al- Ragheb Al- Asfahany’s thought. What are the aspects of education and learning of Al -ragheb?.What are the aspects of the evaluative perspective of Al- Ragheb Al-Asfahany’s educational thought? STUDY OBJECTIVES : The present study aimed at : Identifying the societal context that contributed in the formation of Al -Ragheb’s thought.Identifying the philosophical bases of Al-Ragheb’s educational thought. Throwing more light on the educational issues tackled by Al- Ragheb in his writings. Identifying to what extent Al-Ragheb’s thought agreed with the contemporary thinkers. Providing suggested perspective for benefiting from his educational thought in overcoming some contemporary educational and intellectual issues and problems. STUDY SIGNIFICANCE : The significance of the study referred to : The need to form awareness of the Islamic heritage and its role in solving the contemporary issues. Identifying Al-Ragheb’s role in forming the educational thought. Identifying educational issues that were solved by Al-Ragheb in his writings .Clarifying the role of Al-Ragheb’s educational contents in dealing with the contemporary issues of the society.STUDY METHODOLOGY : The study followed the following two methods :1 The historical method. The philosophical analysis technique STUDY LIMITATIONS : The present study limited itself to the printed writings and handwritings by Al-Ragheb Al-Asfahany during the 14th Hijri Centenary STUDY TERMINOLOG : The following term was operationally defined in the present study proposal: the educational content ,it is what can be deduced from analyzing philosophers’ ideas. STUDY PLAN : Chapter 1:The general framework of the study. Chapter2 : The societal contexts which affected Al-Ragheb Al-Asfahany’s thought. Chapter 3: The intellectual contexts of Al-Ragheb Al-Asfahany. Chapter 4: the philosophical sources of Al-Ragheb Al-Asfahany. Chapter 5: Al-Ragheb Al-Asfahany’s educational aspects. Chapter 6: the aspects of learning and science of Al-Ragheb Al-Asfahany. Chapter 7: An evaluative perspective of Al-Ragheb Al-Asfahany’s thought.
