Abstract
Studies are needed in all governments to asses the global burden of COPD in Egypt.
• Regular follow up for COPD patients is needed to determine the progress of the disease and effects of different treatments.
• Connections are needed between hospitals to know the outcome of referred cases to obtain complete data about the disease.
• Spirometry should be done as a routine investigation for COPD patients either in outpatient clinic or admitted in the hospital.
• Serious efforts are needed for smoking prevention and cessation as it is the most effective available treatment for COPD.
• Physicians should be aware of international standard of practice for better diagnosis and management of patients.
• Non pharmacological treatment as education and rehabilitation should have greater role in practical management of COPD.
• More social support is needed for COPD patients.
