Abstract In today’s world, textile fabrics are manufactured so as to provide their users not only with comfort of use, but also with safety and health protection. On the other hand, demanding and sophisticated customers as well as fabric designers are looking for new functionalities, e.g. anti-bacteria, UVprotection, anti-odour, self-cleaning, ... etc. Efforts are being made to enhance the appearance properties, e.g. pilling, whiteness, wrinkle recovery…, the maintenance properties, e.g. dimensional stability, stain release…etc, the comfort properties, e.g. heat transfer, air permeability, wickability, hand, as well as the functional properties, e.g. anti-bacteria, UV-blocking…etc, by changing the fibre type, yarn parameters, knitting structure, knitting properties as well as pretreatment, dyeing and post-finishing regimes. In an effort to supply additional information about the impact of knit structure as well as functional finishes such as soft-finish, biofinish, anti-bacteria finish as well as water-repellent finish on the performance, comfort, and functional properties of fullbleached and reactive dyed cotton knits, we have undertaken this study. To achieve this goal, the original work presented in this thesis was designed as follows: |
