Abstract The Aim of the Study is to determine the effect of combining ozone therapy with conventional therapy on the healing process of burned wounds. Materials and Method: The study has been conducted on a convenience sample of 50 patients with matched criteria divided alternatively into two equal groups ; 25 patients for each group. Study group (І) exposed to conventional therapy with ozone therapy for wound management. Control group (ІІ) have been exposed only to conventional therapy for wound management.An experimental design was used.Tools: data was collected using a structured interviewing questionnaire developed by the researcher based on extensive review of literature.It includes three tools, Burn physical assessment tool, Nutritional Assessment Tool, and Wound Healing Assessment Sheet. Results : revealed that the age ranged from 30 to less than 40 years at the mean age (30.1 ± 4.6, 29.4 ± 4.8) for two group respectively. 64% of the study group and 68 % of the control group were male and 100% of study sample lives in rural area. The healing process was significantly faster and better among study group than those among the control group.The level of pain had been significantly improved for the study group as compared to the control group. Hospital stay for the study group had been significantly decreased as compared to the control group. Conclusion and Recommendations: Usage of the Ozone therapy have a positive effect on reduction of wound infection and enhance faster and better wound healing. The study recommended increases the awareness of nurses and doctors with Ozone therapy and its benefits, and the importance of presence of medical Ozone generators in each burn unit. |
