Abstract

The Nile Delta is considered as the most important gas-producing province in Egypt. It is an emerging giant gas-producing province with proven reserves of approximately 42 TCF.
EI Mansoura concession is located in the Nile Delta Basin 80 km southwest of Port Said. It has an area of 1,380 square kilometers. The area of study lies between latitudes 3102’ & 310 9’ N and longitudes 310
18’& 31028’ E.
It is located to the south of East Delta Field (IEOC) and lies in the
central part ofEl Mansoura Concession, north ofEl Mansoura city.
The seismic reflection method is the main geophysical method applied in this area. The aim of applying the seismic method is to study the subsurface structural setting of the area by constructing structural contour maps for some strong reflectors that appeared on the seismic sections each representing the top of a certain formation.
Abu Madi channel/reservoir is the most prolific hydrocarbon habitat and is considered to be the most prospective objective in the Nile Delta.
The present thesis deals with the evaluation of the subsurface geology and hydrocarbon potentialities through delineating the structural features of the area and mark out the channel/reservoir boundary of the Late Miocene - Abu Madi Formation, which is considered to be the most prospective object in the onshore Nile Delta area, Egypt.
Geological investigations including reviewing the general geologic setting of the concerned area using subsurface data gathered from well logs with the aid of isopach, lithofacies, structural contour maps, as well as 3D diagrams and cross sections.
