Abstract
The main objective of this work is to identify the pathogen responsible for the stalk-rot condition of maize observed in the summer seasons of 1996&1997.All possible methods of identification [physiological and biochemical tests .dot-immunobinding assay (DIA) and sodium dodecyle sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE)] Bwere followed to characterize and find out whether there is diversity in the bacterial isolates under study or not.
