Abstract Pancreatic surgery is one of the most demanding fields in surgery. The anatomy of the pancreas; i.e., the location deep in the abdominal cavity, sandwiched between the duodenum and spleen, surrounded by major vessels from the celiac axis and superior mesenteric artery, thus makes the surgical approach difficult. Moreover, the physiology of the endocrine and exocrine pancreas, particularly the latter, can also be a cause of postoperative morbidities such as pancreatic fistula and potential mortality. |
