Abstract Three propagation methods by seeds, cuttings and micropropagation of Jatropha curcas L. have been conducted in plant tissue culture laboratory and experimental farm of Faculty of Environmental Agricultural Sciences -EL- Arish. North Sinai, Suez Canal University to identify the best propagation method of Jatropha curcas L. Seed propagation was conducted in the two successive seasons of 2009 and 2010 to determine the best pre-treatment of seeds( soaking in warm water for 12 hr - soaking in tap water for 24 hr - seed clipping -seed scarification and the control ) suitable for the germination of J.curcas seedlings. The results indicate that pre - treatment of seeds ( scarification and clipping) gave higher germination percentage and rate and highest values in seedling stem height, root length, number of leaves, dry matter of” leaves, stem, roots” and higher chlorophyll content. The effects of Indole-3- Butyric Acid ( IBA) concentrations ”500, 1 000, 1500 mg/L” on rooting and sprouting behaviors of stem cuttings of .Lcurcas under field conditions have been conducted also in the two successive seasons of 2009 and 2010. pre- treatment with ”IBA” especially concentration of IBA ( 1500 mg/L ) increased sprouting, rooting and survival percentage of cuttings more than other concentrations of IBA and control treatment. |
