Abstract
The present study was performed in order to assess the combined effect of Somatostatin and Praziquantel as a recent therapeutic modality on experimental schistosomal hepatic fibrosis.One hundred and fifty swiss albino mice were used and classified into: Group1: 30 normal mice.Group2: 30 mice which were infected with 50 cercariae for each and not treated.Group3: 30 mice which were infected with 50 cercariae for each and treated with PZQ 500 mg/ kg six weeks post infection as a single oral dose.Group4: 30 mice which were infected with 50 cercariae for each and treated with SST 30 μg eight weeks post infection twice a day for three successive days.Group5: 30 mice which were infected with 50 cercariae for each and treated with both PZQ and SST.
