Abstract Children in preparatory schools are commonly included in severe and serious athletic activities; and although knee disorders rarely cause mortali ty , they are a¥long the commonest causes of disability in children (Wood, 1971). Knee pain is common in adolescents and young adults, but its etiology and management remain controversial. The patellofemoral joint is one of the most heavily loaded in the human frame and its articular cartilage is the thickest than any human joint (Reilly & Martens, 1972). In ~estern countries, knee joint affections in children are being more prevalent. However in Egypt, the prevalence of knee joint disorders have not been stressed upon. The present study is designed to identify the incidence of knee disorders in Zagazig City among preparatory school children and to correlate their prevalence to sex, age, association of other rheumatic or neurological disorders, athletics activities, sex, intelligence quantity and socio-economic studies. The early detection of knee joint disorders in early ages will simplify treatment and prevent. |
