Abstract

Among numerous and life study parameters dyslipidemia, aging, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and smoking are prominent risk factors for coronary artery disease (CAD) especially in apparently healthy individuals with no evidence of coronary artery disease. Also the presence of multiple derangements in certain subjects have been associated with increase risk factors for coronary artery disease, cardiovascular disease and significantly higher morbidity and mortality. The present study involves screening of the pattern of risk factors of CAD and its difference among males and females from which we found that: • Mean value of height in the study group was higher than anthropometric measures. Mean value of age, weight, waist circumference and lipid profile cholesterol in females was higher than males. In the study group, prevalence of smoking was higher than other risk factors of coronary artery disease. In the study group, no subject had hypertension or diabetes or morbid obesity and or super obese. Males had higher prevalence of cigarette smokers and no females were smoked in the study group. About (1.4%) of the study group had three risk factors of CAD and no subject had more than 3 factors. Overweight had statistically significant difference than other types of body mass index in the study group.
