Abstract

Swine flu is a respiratory disease, caused by a strain of the influenza type A virus known as H1N1. The new virus was first detected in the US in April 2009. Evidence that this new strain could pass from human to human led the World Health Organization to quickly raise its pandemic alert level to phase 5, representing “a strong signal that a pandemic is imminent. This was subsequently raised to phase 6, indicating that a full global pandemic was under way. The current swine flu was discovered in pigs in 1930. It was first appeared as pandemic during the 1918 flu pandemic and was then known as Spanish flu. Egypt had a higher number of cases in Eastern Mediterranean Region., with 281 confirmed deaths since the virus first detected in Egypt on the second of June 2009. This study aimed to determine knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of Monshaat Sultan school children and teachers, at Menouf district, Menofiya governorate towards swine influenza.
