Abstract Among the antiinflammatory medications for asthma, corticosteroids are considered till now the mainstay of asthma therapy. However, they do not suppress all inflammatory mediators involved in the asthmatic response and it appears that inflammation still persists at a low level. Another problem that is commonly encountered with corticosteroids administration is their potential long-term side effects that limit their oral use. Also steroid resistance is an obstacle that sometimes faces asthmatics on corticosteroids. |
