Abstract Two field experiments were carried out at the Experimental Orchard, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University during four successive growing seasons of 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994. 22 “Zaghioul” date palm trees, 15 years old grown on clay soil were selected and used as plant material of this investigation. Flower thinning and instantaneously pollinated without bagging. Flower thinning and instantaneously pollinated and bagged with gauze. Flower thinning and instantaneously pollinated and bagged with perforated polyethylene plastic bags. Normal artificial pollination followed by both fruit thinning and gauze bagging of bunches, one month after pollination. |
