Abstract The present investigation was carried out durinu 1984 and 1985 season at the hxperimental Farm of Assiut University to study the effect of saline water and spraying of some growth regulators to overcome salinity depression on growth and flowering of Chrysanthemum morifolium c.v. Westland Pink. The experiment was arranged in a split—split—plot design, with four replicates. The treatments were distributed as follows: 4 salinity levels as main plots, 3 alar concentrations as sub—plots and 3 concentrations of GA3 as sub—sub plots. The obtained data were subjected to statistical analysis and the main effects were summarized in the following: I- Vegetative growth: 1 — Watering “Westland Pink” Chrysanthemum with saline water was adversly and significantly reduced plant growth. The highest salt level (5000 p.p.m. salts) caused reductions 18.2% of plant height, 37.9% of plant fresh weight and 31.4% in root dry weight. 2 — Spraying of alar on Chrysanthemum singificantly red uced plant height •and unaffected both plant fresh weight and root dry weight. |
