Abstract
5- SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION
The investigation was carried out at Nag Hamadi experimental station o the sugar refineries. The field of experiment is called Head ElMelk. The aim of investigation was to study the effect of drains spacing, nitrogen rate of application and interaction of drains spacing versus nitrogen rate of application on growth and yield of sugar yield. Studies of some physico—chemical properties, water balance, salt balance and nitrogen balance were made. The tile drainage were installed in January 984 and the cane variety CT 54 C9 was planted In March of the same year. The experiment design was split plot technique. Replicates were four. Spacing treatments between field lateral were A (15 meters apart) , B (30 meters apart) and C (60 meters apart) . Nitrogen treatments were N1 (232 N kgs feddan) , N2 (186N kgs/feddan) and N3 (139 N kgs./feddan) The spacing treatments were distributed in the main plot and nitrogen rates treatments occupied the subplots. The results obtained are summarized as follow.
5.1. Growth and yield:
5.1.1. The results revealed that net cane yield, length of cane stalk and weight of cane stalk were significantly increased in all drainage treatments. In general spacing A (15 meters) was the beat treatment.
