SUMKARY AflD CONCLUSION
This research hs been undertaken to investigate the robale socio—eeonomic and cultural changes that are currently underway in the Egyptian rural family in Assiut governerate and also to reveal the major factors that may be responsible for these changes. It aims to provide scientific information and knowledge that helps specialists and autharities concerned with the development of villages in Egypt such as teachers, veterinary doctors, rural sociologists, community development and agriculture extension agencies.
On the other hand, studying changes in the family and factors accounting for them furnishes the basis upon which scientific prgrames can be drawn out and emplimented in a way that acceflrates the speed of rural development or seeks solutions for problems that may arise in the process of change. Such knowledge serves also to guide procedures for improvement of the various aspects of rural life in general, and Aesiut governorate in particular.
The data upon which this research was undertaken were gathered from a strstified random sample of farmers representing several cohorts that varied, as far as our purpue is concerned, in socio—economic and cultural characterestics. his distant of these villages from the capital city of Assiut
