Abstract

This thesis presents a new suggested approach to design a robust sliding mode controller using only state variables for a class of matched and mismatched uncertain dynamical systems taking into consideration the case with chattering existence and chattering reduction.
The proposed control scheme applied to design the controller for the following dynamical interconnected power systems:
1. One area power system for load frequency control.
2. Two area power system for load frequency control.
3. Multimachine interconnected power system which considered as automatic control for both automatic load frequency control and automatic voltage regulator control.
The results obtained for the interconnected power system models achieved a desired dynamic response which assure the applicability and validity of the suggested control approach.
Also suggested method used to design a full-order unknown input observer. Sliding mode controllers obtained using the output of the suggested full-order observer method. This method applied for one area power system and achieved a good results for automatic load frequency control and reaching to the observed frequency.
Finally, The Matlab computational results under the suggested sliding mode controllers in the thesis have good dynamic performance for the used interconnected power systems.
