Abstract
Two—hundred corn samples intended to be used br as poultry feed were examined in this study as well as 50 samples of pecan. br Feeding experiments of some of the corn samples to one—day—old chicks produced poorly grown chicks. The rate of reduction of body weight reached 38% during the 1st week, 30% during the 2nd week and 16. di . ring the 3rd week. br Several species of fung. were isolated and identified from corn and pecan samples. Some of these species were non —toxic to chicks such as A. candidus, niger and implicat4rn. br Others were moderately pathogenic producing re— tarded growth and it included A. repens, A. Liavus and P. implicatum while .ochraceus, P. itrinum and F. moniliforin were extremely pathogenic producing lethal effect.
