Abstract

Ticks are not only annoying pests, but also they surpass all other arthropods in number and variety of diseases they transmit to man and his livestock. The aim of the present work is to throw further light on the tick fauna and their role in disease transmission in Assiut Governorate. It comprises a list of the ticks parasitizing domestic animals in Assiut Governorate, as well as a study of most of the protozoan disease transmissible by them.
The studies on ticks comprised a general survey on the tick fauna infesting domestic animals in Assiut Governorate, elucidating the infestation rate and the density of infestation for every tock species on various hosts existing in rural, urban and boreder-desert biotopes.
