Abstract Biochemical test were carried out on blood and urine of 113 mongrel dogs. The result of these tests were correlated with the degree of kidney damage assessed by histopathological studies. Clinical examination was conducted before death with special attention to urinary system. Because the clinical signs of renal failure were similar, irrespective to underlying cause, it was difficult to establish the type of renal lesion. Serum was analysed for BUN, creatinine, inorganic phosphorus, total serum cholesterol, calcium, sodium, potassium and chloride. Urine analysis included the determination of specific gravity and examination for casts and protein. The examined dogs were divided into the following groups: Group I. Included 98 sick patients, delivered to the clinic with history of renal disorders. The general clinical signs were polydipsia, polyuria, weakness depression, anerexia, stomatitis and diarrhea or constipation. According to histopathological studies of the kidneys, dogs were found to be suffering from cheronic interstitial nephritis (34 case). |
