Abstract The problem of parasitic infection represents one of the main factors that affact live stock in all parts of the world. Parasitic helminths of farm animals, particularly ruminants induce retardation of growth and loss of body weight, lowering their viability and resulting in the increase of their susceptibility to other diseases with the increasein thoir mortality rate leading to great economic losses. Moreover some of helminths parasitising ruminants are transmissible to man constituting a public health problem. It is the aim of the present work to reveal some aspects on this problem in Assiut Governorate as a contribution to its better understanding. The schedule of work included study of the helminth fauna and their incidence and distribution in various host species. In addition some experimental studies were performed to reveal the effect of some external factors on developmental stages of certain helminths. As a result of this work, certain points of interest were revealed. |
