Abstract

During the last few years, natural gas in Egypt has increased its share as an energy source. Now, liquid and solid fuels are replaced by natural gas gradually because of its advantage of being a low-priced and harmless fuel. However, natural gas has the disadvantage of having large specific volume. Hence, most of natural gas is transported through pipelines. The high capital and operating costs of gas pipeline networks make their optimal design and operation of great importance. Therefore, simulation and optimization of natural gas pipelines are important tools to cut down these costs. Gas dispatchers face many requirements for the pipeline system that must be met simultaneously. Firstly, pressures, flow rates, and temperatures must remain within safe operational limits. Secondly, supply and delivery contracts must be coincided. Finally, a dispatcher’s primary objective is to operate the system so that all these conditions are fulfilled. This primary objective function has been done when the natural gas pipeline networks have been simulated to predict the performance analysis to satisfy given discharge and pressure at any consumption node.
