Abstract
the aim of thise work wase to study E. coli biofilm formation abd its antimicrobial susceptibility. this work also included testing antimicrobial susceptibility of planktonic counterparts of biofilm forming isolates to ampicillin, amikacin and ciprofloxacin by broth microdilution and agar dilution methods according to the technique of NCCLS. Escherichia coli is the predominant facultative anaerobe of the human colonic flora. E. coli usually remains harmlessly confined to the intestinal lumen, however in the debilitated, immunosuppressed host or when gastrointestinal barriers are violated, even normal ”nonpathogenic” strains of E. COLI can can cause infection.
