Abstract
Microalgae from the class bacillariophyceae ( diatoms) are considered by many authors to be a major source of lipid in the diets of marine organisms since the net product of photosynthesis is lipid class and fatty acid compositions of microalgal cells at the different growth phases can differ significantly.
