Abstract
Water is the most basic and fundamental component to life. However, only 1% of the earth’s water is fresh which is inadequate in several parts of the world. The present study discusses the natural water resources in the world and in particularly the Arab region. The different desalination technologies adopted in industry are explained in general with a specific interest in multi stage flash
Water chemistry and constituents are explained. The basic processes used for water desalination are extensively explained with sidi lair desalination plant given as an application example.
A complete description of pretreatment processes, multi stage flash operation as well as tube cleaning system for sidi lair desalination plant is ;,;explained.
