Abstract The present work was conducted to study the effect of different concentrations of copper as a heavy metal on the growth and some relative metabolites of two broad bean cultivars, Assiut 84 and Assiut 125. It also aimed to compare the tolerance of the two broad bean cultivars against copper toxicity and to study the interactive effect of IAA and copper on the tested plants. The obtained results were classified into two parts, during the vegetative and the fruiting stages. The data of the dry matter yields, leaf areas and the contents of photosynthetic pigments, carbohydrates, proteins, and the estimated minerals (potassium, calcium and magnesium) in addition to the amino acids content and the contents of some micro elements indicated that cv. Assiut 84 was a copper-resistant cultivar while cv. Assiut 125 was a copper-sensitive one. However, the net crop yield of the pods of cv. Assiut 125 was much higher than that of cv. Assiut 84. |
