المستخلص

.Among the 5 antibiotics tested in this study, ampicillin was the most common antibiotic that the isolates, irrespective of the source of isolation, were resistant to (91.6%), followed by tetracycline (83.3%).
.Moderate degree of resistance was observed to streptomycin (50%).
.Regarding trimethoprim-sulphamethoxazole resistance, an intermediate resistance was found in all strains except O26 of calves.
.All strains were remained sensitive to ciprofloxacin.
.The majority of the EHEC isolates (91.6%) harbor a plasmid of approximately 60 MDa except O111 of calves does not harbor any plasmid.
.Association was noted between the resistance to the antibiotics and the presence of 60-MDa plasmid.
.Further studies are needed to elucidate the role of 60-MDa plasmid toward the antibiotic resistance.
.EHEC serotypes of the same and/or different species have similar homogenous protein content with only minor differences in the banding pattern.
.All examined serotypes harbored bands range from 14-21 bands and showed an increase in density of proteins of approximately 92 kDa and 82 kDa.
.Characteristic banding patterns of the proteins may be correlated with previous stress conditions, such as exposure to traditional antibiotics which explains why these serotypes were resistant to them.
