Abstract In this repmi. we will study how sun energy is converted into electric energy by using the photovoltaic cells to feed a rural vmage contains 1000 persons with electrical. So. we can assume that the photovoltaic cells are acting as transducers which they convert the sun light energy into electrical energy. Chapter 1, we will study the environmental characteristics such as local longitude. local latitude. solar angles. the radiation of sun. energy transfelTed from sun to earth. the energy absorbed by the photovoltaic cells. solar measurement and how I make sun tracking to obtain the maximum possible energy from the sun. Chapter 2, we will study the photo voltaic basics and how operates as a P-N junction semiconductor. We will study also the photovoltaic effect and how the current is generated from it. We will know the construction of the photovoltaic cell. module and array and we know the PV module mounting methods. We also know PV types and materials. We also study the PV advantages and applications. Chapter 3, we will study the characteristics of the PV, modules and arrays. We can represent the PV cell as an electrical model and study the electrical parameters for it. We study the effect of the sun irradiance, cell temperature and the combination of more than one cell which is connected in series or in parallel. Finally. we study the effect of shading. hot spot and bypass diode. Chapter 4, we will take the stand-alone photovoltaic system as an example and study the solar and electrical parameters. We will know how I can make a PV system design and how I select the electrical components of the PV systems. Finally, we make a program with visual basic program to make solar and electrical calculations. |
