Abstract

Two successive growing seasons field experiments (2006, 2007) were carried out at Shlakan Experimental Farm of Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, Qalubia Governorate, Egypt that represents . The aim of this investigation was to study the performance analysis of selfcompensating br gated pipe (SCGO) (gated pipe body was made of a P.V.C of 63 mm diameter; distance between gates along line was 60 cm) and the traditional (gated pipe body was made of a P.V.C of 63 mm diameter gates diameters is 63 mm distance between gates along line was 60 cm). br The effect of irrigation system (drip irrigation, traditional gated pipe and br modified gated pipe)and three water treatments (100,75 and 50% of ETC under clay loam conditions) on yield and water use efficiency of pepper br crop of Egypt. Were also studied. The results in laboratory measurement br reveled that the discharge of self-compensating gated pipe out lets was 29 br lpm under pressure head range of 50-90 cm with 0.9% variation coefficients. On the other hand the uniform discharge was obtained for modified gated pipe under pressure head range of 45-90 cm. The same values were obtained under field measurement. Regular uniform water br flow and uniform pressure head obtained along modified gated pipe line under constant pressure (100kPa). The advance times was obtained along furrows were br (0.6, 1.5, 2.6, 4, 5.4 and 6.7 min) at the first furrow and(0.7, 1.7, 3, 4.5, 6.2 and 7.7 min) at the end furrow at distance (4, 8, 12,16, 20, 24 m), for modified gated pipe respectively, the same trend of recession time (min). Distribution uniformity coefficient of water (DUC) along traditional and modified gated pipe was 82.7% and 96.3%, br respectively. The highest total fresh pepper fruit yields (14.3 Mg/fed) br with 75% of ETC under modified gated pipe and the lowest total fresh pepper fruit yields (8.2 Mg/fed) with 50% of ETC was produced under traditional gated pipe. The highest water use efficiency (5.7 kg/m3) by irrigated 50% of ETC under drip irrigation the lowest Water use efficiency (2 kg/m3) by irrigated 100% of ETC under traditional gated pipe.
