Abstract

Multipath fading severely impairs the performance of mobile communication systems. most mobile communication channels have to combat effects of fading caused by multipath propagation.
one of the methods used to decrease the effect of multipath fading is to apply reception diversity, to receive more than one version of the signal transmitted over multipath channel and combine those to obtain one signal. the resulting new signal will be better than signal received from any single diversity branch if they have independent fading channels. therefore, the multipath fading of desired signal will be combated.
the communication environment in wired system is under control and the interference is small. while in wireless communication, the interference from other users must be taken into consideration. the behavior of wireless communication channels must be clear for use to solve these problems. the first point in this thesis is to provide a brief description of the channel characteristics.the users of wireless communication require the qpuality and the data rate of it to be similar to the quality and data rates of wired line communication.
