Abstract SUMMARY Fifty three governmental and private chicken flocks of different ages, sex, breed and localities in Egypt were examined serologically and virologically for screening the porevalence of IS-infection. A total of 2280 serum samples were subjected to agar gel precipitin (AGP) and passive (indirect) haemogglutination (PHA) tests. ft was found that 14.65% of the tested sera had precipitating antibodies and 64.06% passessed indirect-haemagglutinatining antibodies. Seven isolates of ISV were recovered from twenty tissue samples, three isolates were obtained from the oviduct, two from the respiratory organs and two from the urinary organs. These isolates were identified by a) Haemagglutination test for excluding the Newcastle disease virus contaimination. b) gar gel precipitation test against specific [B-antisera. |
