Abstract

Five female patients with dentulous maxillary arch and partially edentulous “Kennedy class I” mandibular arch were selected for this study. For each patient three removable partial dentures were constructed with three different final impression techniques:
Group A: Removable partial denture made by anatomical form final impres-sion technique.
Group B: Removable partial denture made by altered cast final impression technique.
Group C: Removable partial denture made by Hindle final impression tech-nique.
For each patient denture base adaptation and denture base movement were measured on the right side denture base.
Denture base adaptation was measured by measuring thickness of rub-ber base impression material occupying space between denture base and re-sidual ridge on the right side.
Denture base movement was measured using radiographic technique to measure distance between wire embedded in denture base and crest of the alveolar ridge. The long cone paralleling technique with Rinn XCP film holder was used.
The obtained result showed that that the best denture base adaptation recorded with Hindle impression technique and the poorest recorded with anatomical form impression technique. However minimal denture base movement recorded with altered cast impression technique followed by Hin-dle impression technique followed by anatomical impression technique.
