Abstract
The aim of the present study was to show the effects of some antioxidants such as vitamin E, selenium and their combination and natural products as clover and saponin extracted from Balanitis aegytiaca Del. on regression of atherosclerosis in cholesterol-fed rabbits. It was concluded from the present study that vitamin E intake was associated with mild to moderate reduction in the severity of atherosclerosis , selenium intake was associated with moderate reduction in the severity of atherosclerosis, combined vitamin E and selenium intake was associated with marked reduction in the severity of atherosclerosis, clover intake was associated with moderate reduction in the severity of atherosclerosis and saponin intake was associated with mild reduction in the severity of atherosclerosis.
