Abstract
In our study 200 renal transplant recipients was included and the
following was done to all patients:
1- Clinical history and examination stressing on aetiology of previous CKD,
duration of dialysis pre renal transplantation as will as the source of the graft.
2- Complete blood picture at 2 times: 3 and 6 months post renal transplant.
3- Kidney function tests at such times and other appropriate investigations
when indicated.
This study proved that anemia is a common complication during the first 6th months after kidney transplantation this is mostly due to perioperative blood loss, infections, rejections and graft dysfunction also female gender was found to be a risk factor in the development of anemia after kidney transplantation.
Conclusion, summary and recommendations
In our study there was no association between the use of immunosuppressive drugs and the development of anemia.
Our study could not prove the association of ACEI or ARB and
anemia due to limitations in the number of patients using these medications in our patients.
