Abstract Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic, serious, life-long condition; also it is a worldwide public health problem with increasing prevalence, high costs and poor outcomes. Diabetes Mellitus self-care is referred to the process of teaching individuals with diabetes mellitus to manage their disease; also it is an integral component of the treatment plan (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2006). In order to maintain optimal control of this condition, individuals or caregivers of individuals with diabetes mellitus must be directly involved in the day-to-day management of the disease.
