Abstract
The current investigation was carried out with the broad objective of understanding the blast resistance and the possible classical and innovative approaches for improving blast resistance and identification of possible markers linked to the resistance genes through marker validation and molecular mapping approach. The specific objectives set were :
1-Evaluation of 46 rice genotypes that includes commercial varieties, blast differential varieties and known blast donor ones for their agronomic performance and blast resistance.
2-Evaluation of advanced F5 breeding lines compared with Sakha 101 and Sakha 104 for their blast resistance.
3-Marker validation and potential donor identification by means of molecular markers.
4-Linkage disequilibrium (LD) mapping for blast resistance genes using diverse group of genotypes.
